Derrick and Morgan first met in the summer of 2011 while working at the gem of the West Shore, Sunnyside Restaurant. But the story doesn't start there. We relocated from Tahoe to the Bay Area separately, and a few months apart, but fate (or that Tahoe magic) had us working together again in San Francisco, at a small restaurant in the Financial District. And that’s where the story begins, in the spring of 2013.

After working side by side, and spending time together outside of work for a few months, we were inseparable. The first official date as a couple goes back to the Friday of our first Outside Lands together in August of 2013 (8-9-13 - thanks Johnny & Ang!). Outside Lands is near and dear to our hearts and was/is/will always be OUR festival.

Music has always been something that we love enjoying together and with friends.

In the spring of 2017, our relationship needed to take a back seat to career goals. Morgan couldn't pass up the opportunity to travel the globe working for U2 and Mumford & Sons, while Derrick stayed in San Francisco and put his energies into a career change.

After years apart, a friendship was rekindled in the summer of 2020 with a simple happy birthday wish. We reconnected and quickly learned that past feelings were still present and undeniable after the years apart. We decided to give our partnership a real chance, reignited our romance, and Morgan moved into The Rock House with Derrick (thanks, RC!) on the west shore of Lake Tahoe in June 2021.

Turns out this level of commitment is just what we needed. Our love blossomed and matured over the course of the year and Derrick surprised Morgan with his proposal at the top of one our favorite hikes on the west shore, overlooking the lake (of course), on June 30th, 2022.
